SILVERFISH

Amanda Barnett (Silverfish)
Working from her studio on the Texas Gulf Coast, Amanda Barnett creates artwork under the name Silverfish, blending technical draftsmanship with imagination, folklore, and the strange beauty found just beyond ordinary experience.
Her work ranges from finely rendered graphite portraits to surreal figures, dreamlike creatures, and symbolic explorations of nature. Drawing inspiration from mythology, literature, memory, and the natural world, she creates images that invite viewers to linger between reality and imagination.
Whether capturing the subtle character of a human face or giving form to something that exists only in stories and dreams, Barnett approaches each piece with a storyteller’s eye. Her artwork often explores themes of transformation, wonder, vulnerability, and the hidden connections between people, animals, and the landscapes they inhabit.
Working primarily in graphite, colored pencil, and mixed media, Silverfish combines traditional techniques with a deeply personal visual language. The result is a body of work that is at once intimate and mysterious—familiar enough to recognize, yet strange enough to remember.
From her Gulf Coast studio, she continues to create art that celebrates both the beauty and the oddity of the world around us.
